Saying what must be said…

1.   Be a wise elder.

2.   Always have safety in mind when smoldering incenses.

3.   Use an appropriate, fire-safe censer, away from flammable materials, boisterous activity, children and pets.

4.   Always supervise young people in the safe use of fire and charcoal.

5.   Dedicate a ritual utensil for measuring and dispensing loose incenses.  This helps to both conserve supplies and keep your hands clean.

6.   When smoldering incenses indoors, allow for ventilation and use discretion.

7.   Never leave smoldering incenses unattended.

8.  Always dispose of spent charcoals and incenses safely and honorably.  Be positive all fire is extinguished; discard in non-flammable area.
