To paraphrase Starhawk, majick, or spellwork in this case, is the ability to alter one's reality at will.  Whether to speed healing, remove a rift between friends, bring about a change in fortune, attract a lover, or protect one's home, spellcasting is equal parts art, theater and mechanics.  Always remember that knowing which herbs and stones to bind up with what color fabric and twine, which day, and how many times to immerse them in which potion is only part of the recipe.  Arcane and often scoffed, this facet of witchcraft holds a great potential for creating positive change in the world.
As you study, never forget the Rede:  An' Harming None, Do As Thou Wilt.

Below are listed several titles I have not read yet.  I am familiar with the authors and respect their work.  What would you recommend in this category?  Let me know by signing into my Guest Book.

I've also referenced these two on the Pagan Spirituality/Wicca 101 page.  They are here because you'll find some foundational spell work as well as the background principals which drive the efficacy of spells.

Judika Illes is another teacher I happened upon late in my own education; I am so glad I did.  Her work is comprehensive, exhaustive, and above all, reliable.   I will reference several more titles from her before we are done.

This is another one of those seeming "little gems" that turns out ot be a major treasure cache.  Valerie Worth has woven together considerable wordcraft with equally powerful knowledge of  the kinesthetic potential of incantation.  Trust me, you want this book--at worst you'll speak the words of a Mistress (read: 'Master').  At best, the rhythms and imagery will take root in you and bloom forth in new colors and forms.
